Material Matters

Material Matters offers a closer look at the materials, techniques, and specialized processes behind public art through on-site discussions with artists, architects, conservators, and other experts. This program was established in 2025. Past Material Matters events have explored the once-a-decade passivation treatment for Roxy Paine’s stainless steel Symbiosis, and the delicate handling and conservation of a 19th-century Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw house post.
