Join the Association for Public Art for the opening reception of the exhibition Homecoming: The Journey of a Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw Na̱ʼwiti House Post, featuring remarks from the U’mista Cultural Centre and the Association for Public Art. Light refreshments will be provided.
In partnership with the U’mista Cultural Centre in Alert Bay, British Columbia, the Association for Public Art will return a Na̱ʼwiti House Post (c. 1850), once installed at the International Sculpture Garden at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, to its ancestral land, where it will be received into U’mista’s cultural heritage collection and cared for according to Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw customs and traditions.
This exhibition presents the house post at Atelier Gallery from April 24–May 31, 2026, with a dedicated presentation exploring its history and cultural significance, along with related programs including a panel discussion and film screening, before its journey home to British Columbia.
PARKING: Attendees are welcome to park in the lot in front of Atelier Gallery or use available street parking nearby.
