aPA Receives Major Support from PCAH to Commission Cai Guo-Qiang’s Fireflies

Luminous, kinetic sculptures by artist Cai Guo-Qiang will inhabit the form of free pedicabs and traverse the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The exuberant installation was named one of 31 outstanding public art projects created in 2014.
The award honors innovative contributions, exemplary commitment, and leadership in public art.
Throughout the month of May, the Association for Public Art’s (aPA) outdoor sculpture conservation team provided annual maintenance and specialized treatment for a number of beloved public artworks in Philadelphia.
The aPA is offering two free “Museum Without Walls Public Art Bike Tours” that explore outdoor sculpture in Fairmount Park.
A gift for Philadelphia! The aPA has received a grant from the Daniel W. Dietrich II Trust, Inc. to acquire Paine’s monumental sculpture.
Each spring, the Association for Public Art provides annual maintenance for over 30 public artworks throughout Philadelphia.
