Interview with aPA’s Laura Griffith on Calder art and legacy in Philadelphia

“‘I can’t think of any other city that has three generations of artists like that,’ says aPA Assistant Director Griffith. ‘The work of all three is connected but also different. It reflects what was going on at the time they were creating. And all three were among the best sculptors of their time.’”
Throughout the month of May, be on the lookout for the Association for Public Art’s conservation team conducting annual maintenance on 31 Philadelphia public artworks.
“Symbiosis,” a masterful work of public art by Roxy Paine that explores nature’s regenerative forces, will be installed on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at 24th Street (Iroquois Park) in June 2014.
