Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s OPEN AIR (2012) was named “Event of the Year” at the 2013 Philadelphia Geek Awards on Saturday, August 17th at the Academy of Natural Sciences. The Event of the Year “honors an outstanding event that’s pulled in not only a lot of attendees, but a lot of attention to the city, often times doing a lot of good for the community.” The Association for Public Art’s Executive Director and Project Manager were there to accept the award amongst the many scientists, computer experts, game developers and others in the tech community in attendance. The Philadelphia Geek Awards is hosted by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and Geekadelphia.
