ABOUT THE ARTWORK: The Weight of Our Living was selected for Art on the Parkway, a competition co-organized by the Association for Public Art and the Parkway Council. This temporary installation will be on view in Maja Park on the Parkway starting August 1st as a signature highlight of The 2024 Oval.
Inspired by reflexology footpaths in Taiwan’s public parks, Rachel Hsu’s artwork invites visitors to embark on a tactile and meditative journey by removing their shoes and traversing an undulating surface of river stones. It is a grounding, restorative installation that encourages us to slow down and be mindful of our bodies in space.
