Originally commissioned in 1981 by the Association for Public Art (then the Fairmount Park Art Association), Sol LeWitt’s Lines in Four Directions in Flowers (2012) has finally been realized 30 years later by the Philadelphia Museum of Art along with OLIN architects and designers. According to Timothy Rub, the Museum’s Art Director, a team of architects, landscapers, gardeners, art historians, and computer programmers were called upon to bring LeWitt’s intricate flower garden to life. Lines in Four Directions in Flowers was installed behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the William M. Reilly Memorial.
