Join the Association for Public Art (aPA) and Fairmount Park Conservancy (FPC) for a virtual lunchtime tour of Concourse Lake and the nearby Smith Memorial Arch – both located in West Fairmount Park’s historic Centennial District, where 10 million people celebrated the nation’s hundredth anniversary in 1876.

Lindsey Walker from Fairmount Park Conservancy will lead the tour of Concourse Lake, pointing out interesting plants and trees around the lake. Caitlin Martin and Ashley Lippolis from Association for Public Art will lead the tour of Smith Memorial Arch, which is .6 miles from Concourse Lake and serves as a gateway to Fairmount Park.

The Smith Memorial Arch was initiated by Richard Smith, a wealthy Philadelphian who bequeathed a half million dollars to build a monument to Pennsylvania’s naval and military heroes of the Civil War.
