Dedication Ceremony Held for Hepworth’s “Rock Form”

Barbara Hepworth’s Rock Form (Porthcurno) (1964) was formally dedicated on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the corner of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and 17th Street. A golden cloth was ceremoniously removed to unveil the abstract bronze, which sits on a granite base alongside Alexander Calder’s Three Discs, One Lacking (1968) and Henry Moore’s Three Way Piece Number 1: Points (1964)Remarks at the ceremony were delivered by Penny Balkin Bach (aPA Executive Director), Charles E. Mather III, Esq. (aPA President), and Alan Greenberger (Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Greater Commerce). Rock Form was donated to the aPA by art patron and philanthropist David N. Pincus, and installed on November 26, 2012 by Atelier Art Services with the help of Pro Crane Rental. The sculpture received conservation treatment by Materials Conservation Collaborative LLC prior to the installation.
